Just got off the slopes and headed back down the mountain? Call in an order at Banner Elk Lodge & Cafe. During a drive up to Beech Mountain last week, I stopped by here to grab a burger and fries. Not only was the service quick, but the burger was delicious! There was an outdoor fireplace and wooden bench for me to sit on while I waited.
Have a sweet tooth? The Lodge has some tasty cakes on a display at the coffee bar where you pay for your food. It’s hard to miss!

Saebing Boone King serves up Thai, Vietnamese and Sushi right on King Street. The Asian restaurant is a staple for Appalachian State University students and all those who know about this sweet little spot. On a rainy day, this eatery is one of my favorite places to grab a dish called Drunken Noodle. It’s a tasty flat rice noodle with egg, carrot, bell pepper, cabbage, onion basil leaves, scallion and spicy basil sauce.
Keep traveling down U.S. Hwy 421 into the East Side of Boone and you can find even more up and coming restaurants to support.

Vacationing in Ashe County and have a strong craving for pizza? Pie on the Mountain is located in historic Lansing, N.C. and has award-winning pizza. The restaurant only uses local farm fresh ingredients from suppliers such as Stickboy Breads, Big Horse Creek Farm, Bent Apple Farm, AB Vannoy Hams and more. This is one of my favorite things to pick up before driving up the hill to Molly Chompers Cidery.

Southwest Caribbean soul food is Coyote Kitchen’s speciality! Who knew you could get that in the High Country of North Carolina? Coyote Kitchen offers antibiotic and hormone free meat options, vegetarian and vegan dishes and some of the most unique flavors. This is by far my favorite place to eat in Boone. I like to get my favorite dish, the fish sandwich with sweet potato fries, and take it with me to the dog park and other pet-friendly places! You can’t beat it. So yummy!

A childhood favorite! Let me tell ya. Woodlands Barbeque sits right off 321 in Blowing Rock and makes for a classic BBQ dinner for the whole family. It opened in 1977 and has been bringing people in for their delicious food since. If I’m not in the mood for barbecue, I love to order their sliced turkey sandwich! It comes with potato chips and a pickle. It’s just too good to pass up.
